Candied fruit is made by taking fruit and placing it with headed sugar glucose syrup, which absorbs the moisture from within the fruit and preserves it, allowing the fruit to have a shelf life for around a year. Our mixed candied fruit is obtained through a system of candied "slow", using selected, ripe fruits free from stains and imperfections (some fruits contain seeds / kernels). This is really wonderful, high-quality candied fruit! The package is approximately two-thirds pears (green, yellow and red) with some nice citrus, and a few figs and apricots. We made wonderful fruitcake out of this—it baked very nicely.
Imported from Italy, this is probably the nicest, best-tasting, most beautiful glacé fruit available for sale in the U.S. Note that this is a large package—10 kg is 22 pounds of fruit! This is a lot if you are using it for non-commercial purposes. We made 26 fruitcakes out of this. It was a big project that involved many hands, and the extended family is happy because everyone got one.
